Go Blue! Go Waldorf!

Great Barrington Waldorf High School Boys' Basketball Team 2013 - 2014Congratulations to both the boys and girls basketball teams on impressive seasons! Both teams finished their seasons with winning records–the boys were 6-5, and the girls were almost unbeatable in their first year as a team, finishing 6-1. Both teams gave their all, and if you had the opportunity to see a game or two or more, you saw the determination and spirit both teams showed.

Unfortunately, the girls lost their last game of the season to Hotchkiss, but many girls were not feeling well. The score was 31-42. They did play Hotchkiss’ JV, having previously beaten the Hotchkiss 3rd team by a large margin.

The boys finished their season yesterday with a victory in a tournament game to take 3rd place overall. This is two places higher than last year’s 5th place finish. The scores of the four tournament games they played were: Waldorf vs. Kildonan: 46 – 37, Waldorf vs. Hudson Valley Rocks: 52-72, Waldorf vs. Oakwood Friends: 40-50, Waldorf vs. Eagle Hill: 75-72.

Great Barrington Waldorf High School Girls' Basketball Team 2013 - 2014Many thanks to Coach Alston and Coach Elsbach, to all the refs, to Mike Kinne (Ref Coordinator), to Dave Collopy (Simon’s Rock Athletic Director) for the use of his facility, to Blake Wynot (Kildonan’s Athletic Director) for inviting our school to attend its basketball tournament for the 3rd year, to all the other athletic directors and coaches from schools who hosted us or came to us for a game.

And not to forget a BIG thank you to our parent & student helpers who have assisted with the score books & time clocks this season. Thank you to parents, teachers, family and friends who have come to cheer on the teams, and who have been understanding with game changes.

Most of all thank you to the players and all who support our small but mighty sports program. Without all of you this would not be possible!

Lastly, thank you to Ramona Bellamy, our Office & (PROUD) Sports Manager
