History through Architecture taught by Dr. Sagarin

From the mounds of the Americas and the megaliths of Stonehenge through the curtain-wall and reinforced concrete structures of the 20th century, students explored the history of architecture as symptomatic or symbolic of the evolution of human consciousness. What does each structure—pyramid, temple, theater, courthouse, palace, and so on—reveal about the worldviews of the persons who designed and built it? All students kept an illustrated notebook for the course and completed model building and architectural design projects to better understand the craft of architecture.
