Would you benefit from a structured semester or more between high school and college, one that includes time to mature, to add to your high school transcript, to complete a portfolio of your work, and to find the best college for you?
Starting in school year 2009-2010, the Great Barrington Waldorf High School will offer a Postgraduate or “PG” year for those students who have completed requirements for a high school diploma but wish to:
Spend a semester or a year brushing up academic skills,
Increase credits toward a more impressive high school transcript,
Create a portfolio,
Receive credit for work or internship, or
Seek guidance for college admissions.
Postgraduate students may:
Take courses with current high school students (see “Course of Study” on the Curriculum page of our website),
Plan Independent Studies or Independent Projects with our teachers,
Find and receive credit for work or internships,
Pursue guided work in the arts toward portfolio development, and
Receive individual college guidance.
Postgraduate work is available during the academic year, semester by semester.
Postgraduate students receive full credit on a transcript from our school.
Postgraduate courses, projects, and guidance are planned individually with each student.
The cost for a Postgraduate semester or year depends on the length and scope of program. Maximum cost equals school year tuition ($12,950 for 2009-2010; tuition assistance is available).
Successful applicants will demonstrate a desire and ability to work and think independently, to adjust socially to a small school setting, and to plan for their best future.
