Dear Parents of the class of 2019:
But WAIT! There’re MORE!! My connections at WGBH came through and the BWHS 10th grade is now scheduled for a complete tour of the WGBH studio facilities at 2:00PM on the Friday, May 5th. If you’ve never toured a broadcast studio, it’s amazing – we’ll see sets, lights, camera, action!
Our overnight adventure would begin on the morning of May 5th. We would gather at BWHS at 8:30AM, load up the school van as well as Gini Casasco’s van and head out by 9:00AM. Gini has graciously volunteered to chaperone the event as well handle the overflow of students for the drive.
I have not yet picked a hotel but I have gotten competitive prices from Priceline.com. We would hopefully stay near the MIT campus but cost is a factor. I’m also looking for the hotels that have breakfast included since we’ll be getting up early on Saturday. Students would share beds & rooms at about 4 kids per room.
We would leave Cambridge around 4:00PM with anticipated arrival back at BWHS at around 7:30PM. We’ll probably stop for dinner on the way back.
I anticipate the cost for each student to be under $70.00 for lodging and RT gas expense, but I’ll know more specifically after I book the hotel. In addition, students should bring money for eating out. We’ll bring fruit, water and other snacks for the road trip.
This field trip is not mandatory but highly encouraged. If there are students with scheduling conflicts or other reasons why they cannot attend, they will attend school on Friday as normal and either attend another seminar or other arrangements TBD.
Please respond at your earliest convenience whether your child will be able to, or cannot attend this field trip.
I’m looking forward to introducing students to a super-science field trip! (In honor of the Science march & Earth Day!)
