We participate in Shakespeare & Company’s Fall Festival of Shakespeare (we are the only independent school to do so). Approximately 60% of our students take part each year as actors and as stage technicians, learning to act, clown, sword-fight, dance, build sets, or run lighting. Two professional directors guide our students through the fall. The Festival culminates in a grand showing of 10 Shakespeare plays by 10 schools over 4 days in November, performed at the Tina Packer Playhouse in Lenox (modeled on Shakespeare’s Globe theater) for a full house of 400 enthusiastic friends and fans.
We also produce a play each spring in the Unicorn Theatre as guests of the Berkshire Theatre Group. Past plays have included Audience, Blithe Spirit, Harvey, Henry IV—Part I, The Importance of Being Earnest, Our Town, Saint Joan, The Skin of Our Teeth, The Taming of the Shrew, The Tempest, Uncle Vanya, Noises Off, and A Winter’s Tale.
Students who want to act or to learn about stage tech have great opportunities to do so at our school.
