This is a great opportunity to learn more about our curriculum, meet students and teachers, and see the school in person. The Class of 2027 is away this week studying tide pool zoology and coastal ecosystems in Hermit Island, Maine, with their teacher, Ms. Stanton. This annual trip is part of a month-long zoology seminar, and is a foundational senior-class tradition for Waldorf schools. BWHS seniors study alongside more than 100 students from Waldorf high schools across the country. The trip includes combined seminar classes, outdoor labs, early morning tide pool study, camp cooking, evening singing, poetry, and art.

We are thrilled to welcome Amy (Inglis) Whalan BACK to teach art at our school! She taught here (in our old building) from 2016-2018 before devoting herself full-time to her photography business, Avida Love Photography, a fine-art wedding and portrait business that includes a full portrait studio in Housatonic, MA. She says, “It’s incredible to see how the school’s new home and the care of the faculty keeps the school culture going. And I love being able to take my students outside–where there are endless sources of inspiration.” She is currently teaching drawing in color–pastels–to the 10th grade. Ms. Whalan is a 2004 graduate of Berkshire Waldorf School, a 2008 graduate of Miss Hall’s School, and a 2011 graduate of Florida Southern College, where she earned a BA in fine and studio arts. She is a multi-talented art teacher, a former volleyball and soccer player and coach, and a cheerful, thoughtful person. Ms. Whalan is married to recording artist and music producer Jackson Whalan.
