Dear Friends,

June 2024
Dear Friends,

This is not our usual Spring Appeal. Instead, our goal is simple: To assist young women in securing a high school education that is unavailable to them in their home country of Afghanistan since the Taliban banned women from secondary and higher education almost three years ago.

We have admitted three young women from Afghanistan, and they will begin school with us in September 2024. They will endure difficult travel to Pakistan, where they will apply for visas to the United States. Families in our community have already agreed to provide room and board. Our school will waive 100% of tuition via scholarships.
We are seeking assistance with out-of-pocket costs, however, including travel (approximately $2,000 per student), books, laptops, supplies, food, Orientation, field trips, and a modest amount of spending money. We have already received pledges of more than $7,000 from generous local donors, but we anticipate these costs will total at least $18,000 for the three students.

Further, we have three more applicants, one ninth grader and two twelfth graders. We do not have the financial capacity to waive 100% of tuition for these additional young women. This is heartbreaking as they are desperate to escape the oppressive Taliban regime and continue their education.

Your contributions to the school will make it possible to support the three girls we have admitted and to admit additional Afghan students. No gift is too small. Every gift brings us closer to our goal. Many thanks for your generosity.

PS: Work continues on Old Town Hall, and we are more than 80% of the way to our fundraising goal for the project. We plan to open school there in September 2025. Thanks for contributions to our Building Fund to help us cross this important finish line.

Use the ‘Note’ field in the form below to specify if your contribution is for Afghan girls’ education or Building Fund.

Sincerely,
