Berkshire Waldorf High School definitely prepared me for success at Brown, especially in discussion/seminar classes where I’ve seen students struggle in the first few weeks to learn how to examine a topic from all directions and carry out a successful conversation. BWHS has a strong focus on that right from the beginning of 9th grade. So by the time I attended my first seminar at Brown I had already had four years of experience with highly intellectual conversations in a classroom setting. I’ve had a similar experience with writing college-level essays, which BWHS starts expecting you to produce in the early years as well.
